Hosting 300 Guests at Froyle Park – How the Space Actually Works

Froyle Park can comfortably host weddings of up to 300 guests, but a wedding of that size does not mean having 300 people in one room for the entire day. The venue is designed so that different parts of the celebration can take place across the Main House, Grand Ballroom, Terrace, gardens and outdoor ceremony spaces.

Froyle Park's room capacities

Our main capacities are:

  • Grand Ballroom: 300 for a ceremony, including a stage or Mandap; 300 for a drinks reception; 300 for banqueting using the full room, or 250 with a dedicated dancefloor.
  • The Dome: 240 seated for an outdoor ceremony.
  • Great Hall: 140 for a ceremony or drinks reception; 70 for banqueting.
  • Drawing Room: 80 for a ceremony or drinks reception; 70 for banqueting.
  • Terrace: 50 seated, or up to 300 for a drinks reception.
  • Morning Room and Reception Room: permanently furnished, seating around 20 guests each or approximately 60 standing.

How a 300-guest wedding flows

A 300-guest wedding reception does not always mean a 300-guest ceremony. It is common for couples to have a more intimate ceremony of around 100–140 guests before the wider guest list joins them later.

For an indoor ceremony of this size, couples would normally use the Great Hall. Outdoors, the Dome can accommodate up to 240 seated guests.

If all 300 guests are attending the ceremony, the Grand Ballroom is set up for the ceremony at the beginning of the day. There is plenty of room for 300 seated guests alongside a stage or Mandap – many of our largest weddings are Asian weddings.

Afterwards, the couple will usually head off for photographs while guests enjoy the drinks reception. In good weather this can take place across the Terrace and gardens.

weddings with us

If the weather is poor, guests can move into the Main House. The Drawing Room, Great Hall, Morning Room and Reception Room all open into one another, creating a natural flow through a series of historic interiors rather than putting everybody into one large space. The Morning Room also has a bar which the caterer can use to serve drinks.

As guests are enjoying the reception, the Grand Ballroom can be transformed from ceremony setup to wedding breakfast in approximately 90–120 minutes.

The wedding breakfast and evening reception for a 300-guest wedding will always take place in the Grand Ballroom. The full room can seat 300 for dinner. The stage is not used for guest seating, so it remains available for a DJ, band or couple’s stage setup.

If a couple wants a dedicated dancefloor throughout dinner, we recommend around 250 guests. At a full 300-person wedding breakfast, around five tables simply need to be removed afterwards to create the evening space. That takes approximately 20 minutes, although a DJ or band will often need around an hour to set up.

Does 300 guests feel too big?

Although 300 sounds like a large number, guests are not packed into one room throughout the day. They move naturally between the ceremony space, Main House, Terrace, gardens and Ballroom.

That also helps a larger wedding retain a more personal feel. Guests can gather in smaller groups through the historic rooms and outdoor spaces before everyone comes together for the wedding breakfast and evening celebration.

Parking and arrivals

Froyle Park has ample parking for larger weddings. Guests staying overnight are given parking priority beside the Main House.
Day guests park further down the private lane, which is typically around a two- to three-minute walk back to the Main House. Guests can be dropped at the Main House first where helpful, particularly for anyone who would prefer to avoid the walk.
Coaches are also welcome, with a maximum permitted coach length of 26 feet.

Explore the space before your wedding

Our Virtual Tour is a great way to explore Froyle Park and understand how the different spaces connect. You can move through the venue at your own pace and even take measurements, which can be particularly useful when planning layouts, staging, décor or a Mandap.

If you are planning a larger wedding, we also recommend discussing your guest numbers and capacity requirements with our team during your showround. We can talk you through the best use of each space for your particular wedding and how the day could flow from ceremony through to the evening reception.
