What to Wear to a Hindu Wedding

Hindu weddings are vibrant, joyful, and full of symbolism — and your outfit should reflect the celebratory spirit. For women, traditional attire such as a saree, lehenga, or anarkali suit is ideal. Choose bright colours like gold, emerald, fuchsia or royal blue, but avoid white (a symbol of mourning) and red (worn by the bride). Modesty matters, so opt for covered shoulders and elegant silhouettes.

Men can wear a kurta with churidar trousers, or a more formal sherwani if part of the wedding party. Embellishments and embroidery are welcome, and slip-on shoes are best for ceremonies that require bare feet.

What to Wear to a Muslim Wedding

Muslim weddings, particularly Nikkah ceremonies, emphasise modesty, elegance, and tradition. For women, long-sleeved dresses, kaftans, or abayas that cover the arms, legs, and chest are ideal. Lightweight fabrics like chiffon or silk are perfect for celebrations, and embellishments like embroidery or beadwork add a touch of glamour. Some ceremonies may require a headscarf, so it’s respectful to bring one even if it’s optional.

Men can wear a classic suit or traditional shalwar kameez, ideally with long sleeves and full-length trousers. Avoid tight or overly casual clothing, especially for religious parts of the day.

Froyle Park regularly hosts Muslim weddings in Surrey, with beautiful Nikkah ceremonies under the Outdoor Dome and elegant receptions for up to 300 guests. Our flexible dry hire option allows couples to bring in their own caterers and décor, making every celebration personal and faith-focused.

What to Wear to a Sikh Wedding

Sikh weddings are full of colour, culture and meaning — starting with the sacred Anand Karaj ceremony, usually held in a Gurdwara. Guests must dress modestly and cover their heads during the ceremony. At Froyle Park, many couples choose to follow the traditional format, either at a local temple or with a symbolic Anand Karaj-style ceremony onsite.

Women should wear a salwar kameez, lehenga, or modest dress with a dupatta (scarf) to cover the head. Men should wear a kurta or smart trousers with a headscarf or handkerchief — baseball caps and hats aren’t appropriate.

Guests sit cross-legged on the floor, so comfort and modesty are key. After the ceremony, receptions at Froyle Park are lavish, joyful, and full of dancing — making it one of the most sought-after Sikh wedding venues in Surrey.
