The break between ceremony and evening — and why it matters
That break is important. Couples will often change from traditional ceremonial attire into formal eveningwear, and the bride may also have a second hair and makeup look. Many guests change as well, while some older relatives may leave after the daytime ceremony and lunch, meaning the evening reception can have a slightly smaller guest list and a different atmosphere. Some couples also choose to hold their civil ceremony during this gap.

Once the venue and caterer are secured, this is often a natural point to appoint a wedding planner, who can coordinate the remaining suppliers and logistics alongside the venue team.
